When the palombes migrate through SW France, hunters climb up to their cabins in the top of the trees. Sometimes the ladders need repairing. This lazy hunter has strung up a trapeze instead and his fellow hunter is not happy!

When the wood pigeons migrate through SW France, some hunters become obsessed. It is sometimes called the 'Maladie bleue', or the blue sickness, due to the colour of the pigeons. This one has asked his wife to call his work to say that he won't be in for the next few days as he has the 'Maladie bleue'...

When the wood pigeons begin their migration, the hunters get the blue fever. There is no known cure.

These wild boar use the hunters' lookout to see if the coast is clear.

Hunting, shooting and fishing are this Gascon's daily bread.   Shoot first, ask the neighbours for dinner afterwards. His white van, rifle and dog are never far away.

Les plombiers Landais.  (The plumbers of Les Landes)

Plombiers sounds almost like palombières, which are the huts used to hide while hunting wood pigeons (palombes) in Les Landes.

This mushroom hunter is surprised that he feels rain… It is known that mushrooms often grow beneath the palombières in the trees. When a hunter has to go, he doesn’t waste time or reveal himself to the pigeons. We see grey cranes passing overhead en route for the corn fields.

This wood pigeon hunter has obviously been distracted while preparing for a day in the ‘palombière'. He has everything required for a fine day of apéritifs, long lunch and digestives. Shame he forgot his gun ...
